What you need to know about the new Big Brother Naija House

Here’s everything you need to know about the new BBNaija house, which is quite the spectacle.

After a spectacular launch show on Saturday, Big Brother Naija, the most popular and largest reality TV show in Africa, is now in its sixth season.

Ebuka Obi-Uchendu hosted the event. In addition to featuring exciting personalities and engaging activities, it is titled ‘Shine Ya Eye’.

A spokesperson for MultiChoice Nigeria, the show’s organiser, earlier revealed there would be two launch shows this season, one on Sunday night, and one on Saturday night.

MultiChoice Nigeria not only announced the double launch shows, but also the revamp of the BBNaija house to be more accommodating to the applicants and the activities they will complete to win the grand prize.

It is an integral part of BBNaija that the house reveal always gets a lot of attention, as it is an integral part of the show.

The multi-purpose facility that hosts Big Brother Naija live has undergone several modifications since it returned to Nigeria in 2019 and the latest is the biggest yet with the addition of a new mezzanine floor to the structure.

As well as the original house, which measures about 1800 square meters with additional 250 square meters for support rooms such as presenters’ lounges and artists’ lounges, along with an art studio for making props for the arena games.

Located on this mezzanine floor is an indoor games lounge complete with trophies, a private executive lounge that is only accessible during specified periods, and a 50-square-metre royal Head of House room!

Interior images of these new spaces demonstrate the high level of detail and exquisite design.

Green tufted upholstery is featured in the executive lounge along with green walls and rainforest-inspired wallpaper. Meanwhile, the room of the HOH screams opulence.

An embroidered maroon throw pillow hangs above the bed in this Victorian-themed room, as does a vanity table against a gold-trimmed wall.

A snooker board, a table football game, and tennis courts will make it the ultimate games lounge for housemates. Among the potted plants on the balcony railing of the games lounge are tribal designs.

Colors and geometric shapes are prominent in the common areas while African décor is layered in strategically placed places.

Another interesting feature at the foot of the HoH chair is the gold lion statue. An outdoor area with a Jacuzzi and a mural painting is also available. Close to 75 artisans worked to bring the theme of this season to life through locally sourced pieces throughout the house.

Since adding the new floor, there have been more cameras installed in the home. This year’s BBNaija Pepper Dem edition of the house will accommodate seven hand-held cameras and 32 Q-Ball cameras.

As of this season, there are 37 Q-Ball cameras for this season and 14 handheld cameras that can be seen at all times.

Those Q-Balls alone are located on the mezzanine floor, along with two cameras. The house has twice as many ambience microphones so everyone’s conversation will be captured.

MultiChoice Nigeria’s Chief Executive Officer, John Ugbe, said it is part of the show’s huge investments that the house is upgraded every season.

BBNaija is produced by a lot of people. Providing a quality show each season includes delivering a great house, which is integral to the overall show experience. In order to deliver to our customers a show unlike any other from Nigeria, we will maintain a high production standard,” he said.
